Biographical sketch
Born in Paris, Mary was raised in New England and has made Alaska her home in 1990s and 2000s. The daughter of renowned sculptor David Hayes, critics note that she has inherited his eye for selecting fresh, evocative images from nature. As an avid hiker, she goes out to meet Alaska’s beauty head-on, sometimes spending weeks in the wilderness for the best available shots. She has exhibited widely, and her work has appeared in numerous publications, including the New York Times.
